Bagpipes - Säckpipa

The Säckpipa is Sweden’s traditional bagpipe. Featuring a single-reed cylindrical chanter, it traditionally has a drone tuned in unison with the chanter tonic, though I typically voice the drone an octave lower for richer acoustic body and volume. Traditional aesthetic design with African blackwood or ivory-substitute rings and vegetable-tanned cowhide bag. Tuned in E mode with chromatic 3rd degree (A minor harmonic scale starting on V), played with semi-closed fingering for a distinct personal timbre. Also crafted in E mode in D pitch.
